The only thing Constant, is Change itself
A fictional conversation between 2 Singaporean business partners...
Big Boss 1 : I’m bored. This week Phua Chu Kang’s episode so boring. Same yellow boots. Same funky hairdo. And to make matter worst...Xiaxue didn’t update her blog.
Big Boss 2 : Yalor. I didn’t realize that being so stinky rich and own so many companies, I can still end up this bored. No challenge lar. I think the JB cd sellers have a more interesting job. What should we do? Should we buy over another company in Malaysia? Is so affordable there. Come to think bout it, everything is affordable there.
Big Boss 1 : Har? Another company meh? So many...dunwan lar..I cant keep track of which company we own liao. Lazy to remember. I’d rather play O2 Jam.
Big Boss 2 : Hrm..I’ve a better idea. Let’s make a big change in one of our companies. It’ll be fun watching the people struggle to keep up with the changes. We can watch the departmental heads fight amongst themselves. See young executives grow white hair. Have the staff move office. See which unlucky dood havto change department and watch him struggle with his new post. Change the accounting system too. Haha, best!! It’ll be more interesting than the Chinese Drama on TV wei.
Big Boss 1 : Cool idea!! It’s like playing God. Let’s randomly pick one company to start the chaos. Maybe later one of them will bitch about it in his/her blog. About time someone updates their blog. So borrrringg. No new reading material somore.

I’ve change department again. This is the 4th time I’ve changed department / position / job scope in just within 4 years of working in my current company. It’s annoying. It gives me a feeling of uncertainty. It’s uncool when you’ve finally gotten use to the job..you find yourself having the need to adapt to a new environment. So..what can I do? There are 2 options available :
1.) quit
2.) bitch and complain about it in my blog then shutup and do my new job.
So..I’ve decided to roll with the punches. Perhaps the change is gonna be better for me. I am aiming to go into the consultation industry in the future. Maybe learning different aspects of an organization may help. Who knows? Come to think about it, I don’t wanna be doing the same thing I’m doing in the next 5 years. Let's recap the changes I’ve been thru.
2002 – Joined the company’s Supply Chain department, handling the central regional warehouse for the manufacturing arm.
2003 – Restructuring. Ended up in the Logistic and Warehouse dept. Much like operations. Doing almost the same thing as in 2002, but handling the Trading side of the company with an added responsibility of the logistic aspect.
2004 – Another restructuring. New boss and new dept. Now in charge of SoP dept.(ie. Sales order processing). Where previously I had 1 supervisor under me and 15+ staff under him…now I’ve got 4 clerks under me, no supervisor -_-". My division was part of a Finance division..so therefore was reporting to a Finance senior manager.
2005 – Restructuring..AGAIN. Felt very unstable if I was to stay in SoP dept. So requested for a transfer to Credit Control. No staff under me. More responsibility. Where I was previously handling inventory, and documents…I’m now handling collections and credit and lots of account monitoring. Yea, pretty boring stuff.
So, I’ve a new title. Credit Control Executive. Sounds very glamorous ya? The job’s very demanding. AR, risk management, collection status, ageing reports, credit limits, seek legal actions (when other companies don’t pay up) etc. Anyway, lots of Finance aspect included. Did I mention that I failed in my Financial Management subject? Wish me luck..gonna need lots of it.
Come to think about it, I think I got an upgrade in my Executive level. It went up 1 level. Dunno if that’s intentional coz my boss didn’t mention it to me. Let’s hope it’ll affect my salary adjustment at the end of the year.
All this comes with a catch. You see, when I’m offered this new post, my boss included in a clause before I signed the transfer document. In 3 months time, if I’m not up to the job, I’ll have to leave the department. And since my previous post has been replaced by someone else...that means I’ll havto leave the company too. Exciting no? Drama ++
Come back in 3 months time to see if I end up losing my job. *Deng Deng Deng*
If I managed to survive, come back next year anyway to see which department I end up transferred into...AGAIN.
